Inspiration process
As part a crazy fantasy world of mine, this outfit will be situated between a Syfy costume, an architectural structure and a bondage piece of art. An outfit that brings technical and structural shapes, reminding great architectural structure and texture; a piece that shapes the way you stand, or not, modifies the natural way your body should move. A piece that constraints you like we can see in the bondage culture; All that plunged in a world a fantasy reminding some of the greatest science-fiction movies. A world where micro-organism and human merged together in the darkest way possible.
Starting from my first inspiration graphic, I decided to develop focuses boards that'll help me ideate and also slowly concentrate the inspiration to transform them into the pieces I want to make. Here's my first inspirational schematic :
To me, the first section had to be thought a little bit more because the idea of body constraint or body modification goes way beyond bondage that is only one part of what I wanted to express. There's cultural exploration of the concept like in the tradition geisha's costume or within different African cultures and more. But also, in the medical world where prosthesis that repairs the body by constraining it.
